About the role The Inclusion Coordinator ensures campers with diverse learning, behavioral, developmental, or medical needs can fully participate in camp. You’ll design and oversee accommodations, train and coach staff, manage escalations/documentation, and partner closely with families. This is a supervisory role that reports to the Camp Director.
Responsibilities
Develop and oversee individualized supports (visual schedules, social stories, sensory tools, task analyses, reinforcement systems).
Train and coach staff in proactive strategies and calm de-escalation; provide in-the-moment coaching.
Lead case intake and follow-up with families; collaborate with the Health Center on care plans.
Oversee documentation: observations, behavior notes, incident reports, and communication logs.
Coordinate staff coverage (Inclusion Counselors/floaters) and daily team meetings.
Monitor spaces and transitions; identify hazards and uphold safety and confidentiality.
Meet or exceed ACA practices and Virginia child day program licensing standards.
Be punctual, prepared, and flexible; perform other duties as assigned by the Camp Director or designee.
Understand that duties/schedules may be adjusted by the Camp Director (or designee) to meet program needs.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience leading inclusion/special education supports in camp, school, or recreation settings.
Training in CPI/TCI (or similar) and data-informed behavior support; MAT and Pediatric First Aid/CPR a plus.
Clear, compassionate communicator with strong family partnership skills.
Organized, calm under pressure, and skilled at staff coaching.
Eligibility: Must be 21+ by the first day of employment and able to pass required background/screening checks per School and Virginia regulations.
