Counselor in Training (CIT)
As a rising sophomore in high school, you will learn the skills needed to be a counselor. You will rotate between groups and age divisions weekly and assist with packing snacks and other miscellaneous tasks. Engage with campers, help with administrative duties, and support your lead and junior counselors for work experience and volunteer hours!!
Junior Counselor (JC)
Rising juniors and seniors in high school, come join us as a JC to create a memorable experience for campers. You’ll take on numerous responsibilities throughout the day alongside your lead counselor and be a positive influence for your group. Depending on your availability over the summer, you may be assigned to a group or be a floater.
Lead Counselor (18+)
Lead counselors are the primary counselors in every group. As a lead, you are responsible for being an impactful adult role model and keeping campers behaved and having fun. Your JC(s) take on nearly all the same roles as you and will provide great assistance as your group navigates the crazy summer camp environment.
Specialist
Do you have an interest or skill that you would like to teach and show campers? Are you looking for an incredibly fun Summer opportunity? Specialist Counselors are talented employees who plan daily lessons and activities for campers. Groups will visit you at your specialty location and you will conduct the lesson/activity you planned that aligns with your interest or skill. Specialty areas include arts & crafts, yoga, music, sports, games, archery, high and low ropes course elements, and equestrian. If you have an idea for a specialist area that is not listed or are interested in any of the above activity areas, please reach out to summer@congocamp.org.
*Please note that some Specialist positions will require specific qualifications and/or certifications.
Lifeguard
If you have a lifeguard certification, we want you at Congo Camp! We need courteous, safety-conscious individuals to help watch over our brand-new aquatic center. We have a splash pad area for our little ones, as well as a full-length pool with swimming lanes. There is a diving board that leads into our 11-foot deep end and a water slide, both of which would be under your domain. If you meet the requirements and prefer a more laid-back and consistent daily schedule, this is for you.
Inclusion/Special Education (18+)
We are looking for highly motivated and growth-oriented individuals who can help with inclusion and Special Education needs. We often have campers who need a little more one-on-one connection to make their experience at camp smooth. As an inclusion or Special Education specialist, your responsibilities are to provide a safe space, de-escalate situations, and solve problems effectively for the comfort and enjoyment of campers. Having a huge heart, being patient, and always willing to offer a helping hand are requirements for this role!
Great Adventures Counselor (18+)
For those with a passion for working with young children, Great Adventures is right up your alley. Lead Congressional’s youngest campers (rising Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarten) through daily activities and support them in their earliest development stages. Great Adventures campers have fun in our kids’ pool and with our ponies, among a bunch of other indoor and outdoor activities. Working in this division often comes with lots of surprises and crazy adventures, so this position requires someone who is 18+ and has a lot of patience!
Teacher/Admin (18+)
Are you a teacher during the year and looking for work during the summer? Do you have a leadership or administrative background and you’re looking for an exhilarating environment to work in? If either of these fits your description, Congressional Camp has various opportunities for you! We are looking for specialists or leadership team members to help run everyday programs.
