Great Adventures

Where our youngest campers explore, play, create, and make new friends every day.

At Congressional Camp, our youngest campers, those entering Junior Kindergarten (Pre-K) or Kindergarten, join our Great Adventures program family. We offer two engaging options designed just for this age group: our classic Great Adventures program based at Congressional School and our themed Great Adventures Specialty Camps at Sleepy Hollow Elementary. Both programs include age-appropriate activities, caring counselors, and a built-in daily rest period to support younger campers’ needs.

Great Adventures

Based on our main campus in the Little School Building, this program offers a classic camp experience with a wide variety of activities each week, daily swimming, pony rides, art, outdoor play, nature exploration, and more. Campers are placed into co-ed groups and are led by two adult counselors who create a warm, nurturing environment where young campers can explore, learn, and grow.

Great Adventures Specialty Camps

Held at Sleepy Hollow Elementary, these week-long camps provide a themed, immersive experience tailored to rising JK–K campers. Each week features a unique creative focus, such as art, science, cooking, storytelling, or outdoor adventure, and is paired with hands-on activities designed for younger learners. Specialty Campers enjoy swimming twice a week, participate in theme-based programming.

Drop-off & Pick-up

Families have three options for getting to and from camp each day: Parent Drop-Off/Pick-Up, our Extended Hours Program (EHP), or Bus Services. Locations and procedures vary slightly depending on whether your camper is enrolled at Congressional School or Sleepy Hollow Elementary.

Programs at Congressional School

All arrival and dismissal take place at the Little School. This includes Carline, Extended Hours Program, and Bus Services.

Parent Drop-Off/Pick-Up runs from 8:45–9:15 AM and 3:45–4:15 PM. Please display your name card on your dashboard so staff can easily identify your vehicle. During drop-off, counselors and CITs help younger campers exit cars and find their groups. At pick-up, we will radio for your camper as you arrive, and a staff member will bring them safely to your car.

Campers not picked up by 4:15 PM will be brought to EHP.

Extended Hours Program (EHP) is available at the Little School from 7:00–9:00 AM and 3:45–6:00 PM. Campers in EHP participate in supervised, age-appropriate activities until pick-up.

Bus riders at Congressional School are escorted by counselors to and from their route each day. Bus stops are located across Northern Virginia using convenient cluster-stop locations.

Specialty Camps at Sleepy Hollow Elementary

Campers attending Great Adventures Specialty Camps participate in a shared carline with the rest of the Sleepy Hollow program. Specialty Camp groups line up together and are assisted by their counselors during both arrival and dismissal.

Parent Drop-Off/Pick-Up mirrors the Congressional School schedule (8:45–9:15 AM and 3:45–4:15 PM). Families will follow the same traffic pattern and procedures used by all Specialty Camp programs.

Extended Hours Program (EHP) is available onsite at Sleepy Hollow. Specialty Campers have their own group within EHP, supervised by counselors who are familiar with their program.

Bus Services operate normally for Sleepy Hollow campers. Campers are escorted to the bus by a counselor at dismissal and into their groups upon morning arrival.
