Congressional School

Our Main Campus has the following facilities open to Day and Great Adventures campers.

We have 9 horses and miniature horses on our campus that campers are able to ride and care for. Typically, Day Camp groups get to visit the stables twice per week. Our equine staff also plan activities at their location that align with camp wide events like Messtival, where campers get to paint the horses with animal-safe paints.

Necessary safety precautions are taken and campers are briefed on rules and expectations before participating.

With a large playground, soccer field, baseball/softball diamond, sport court, and gaga-ball pit, there is no shortage of outdoor space at Congressional. During their daily playground time and outdoor activities, campers get to experience all that our impressive campus has to offer. Can’t forget our archery range!

Our new Rameika Aquatic Center opened in 2022 and is our most popular facility on campus. We have a full-length pool complete with a slide and a diving board in our 11 foot deep-end. There are swimming lanes in a designated area of the pool and a basketball hoop in the shallow end.

In addition to our large pool, we also have a smaller pool that is 3 feet at it’s deepest point. There is a splash pad with fountains and sprayers that is separated from the deeper end by a short wall. This pool is designed for our younger campers; those entering 6th grade and above must use the big pool to ensure the safety of smaller kids.

Those on our main campus swim daily and Sleepy Hollow Elementary campers swim twice per week.

There are 4 lifeguards monitoring the pool complex at all times. Additionally, at least one counselor per group must be on the pool deck at all times to watch over their campers.

Tucked away in the forest on our campus is a massive ropes course with both high and low elements. Our most popular features include the 40ft climbing wall, zipline, flying squirrel, peanut butter pit, and giant swing! Plenty of traditional ground-level balancing and swinging features accompany the more daring ones. A large amphitheater by the ropes course is perfect for camp-wide events like Messtival or for relaxing after summitting the climbing wall!

All ropes staff are professionals and experienced in their positions. Safety first!

Our recently updated state-of-the-art gymnasium is available to groups during free time, playground, and for sports and games activities. The gym hosts most camp-wide events including our Lip Sync Battle on the stage and Counselors vs Campers basketball game. Additionally, the gym provides a large open space in the event of weather that forces us to move entirely inside during Parent Pick-up. On special occasions or for extreme weather, we will set up a movie in the gym for campers.

Tripps run, a long creek that runs through our campus, is a great place for campers to dip their feet and learn about marine life during Outdoor Ed! On special occasions, kids may learn to fish or go on a creek walk!

The Early Childhood Program (ECP) building, or “The Little School,” is home to Great Adventures. Our youngest campers are based out of this building that is home to Bright Beginnings, Preschool, and Junior Kindergarten (Pre-K) during the academic year. This building is located on our main campus between the pools and ropes course.

The Little School has a large and safety-conscious playground reserved for Great Adventures age groups only.

Sleepy Hollow Elementary

The facilities listed below are open to Specialty Camps at our satellite location.

Specialty Camps are hosted in the many large classrooms this location offers. Campers eat in the school’s cafeteria with lunch catered by Fairfax Foods. Sleepy Hollow Elementary also has a library and a health center with a full-time nurse.

Sleepy Hollow Elementary School offers a large playground and two athletic fields. There is plenty of green space throughout the property and even a new 4000 square foot garden accompanied by an outdoor classroom.
